Herman Olthaar, is a highly experienced Hospital planner and expert in applied Healthcare Technology, bringing a proven track record of over 40 years in the industry. His international portfolio includes the succesful completion of 50+ hospital projects accross five continents.
In August 2023, he established his independent consultancy, Hospital Integration & Planning Solutions (HIPSconsult.com), registered in the Netherlands (KVK 91220327), to offer specialized, results-driven planning services globally.

Core Specialties and Offered Services:  I provide comprehensive planning and optimization services of healthcare facility development and technology integration:

1. Facility Planning & Optimization

• Defining all required departments with detailed Schedules of Accommodation including room
• Optimizing functional layout through Adjacencies, Clustering, Blocking, and Stacking studies.
• Determining gross area per floo .and total building volume
• Developing detailed 2D Healthcare Facility Layout Planning (3D presentation resources are available upon request).

 2. Technology & Budget Management

• Comprehensive Room-by-Room Equipment and Furniture Planning.
• Establishing accurate Bills of Quantity and Budgets.
• Creating generic Equipment and Furniture Specifications.

3. Engineering Integration (CMEP)

• Providing a generic listing of Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (CMEP) requirements necessary for planned equipment.
• Offering detailed equipment sourcing and specific CMEP planning, if required.
• Creating detailed loaded drawings in .dwg and .pdf format

Working Methodology and Engagement: 

I leverage extensive experience, in adherence with International Healthcare Facility Guidelines,.I make use of CAD and Office 365,software and proprietary Equipment Databases. I actively collaborate with Subject Matter Experts when required.

My rate for short-term assignments is € 85,- per hour (excl. VAT), billed monthly with transparent reporting. Travel, boarding, lodging, and other expenses are invoiced at actual cost.
